Herbstakademie 2020 „Fieldwork meets Crisis“ der DGSKA

In connection with his participation in the DGSKA Fall Academy, Max Müller was invited to give a presentation on the emotional and structural challenges of fieldwork during the Corona pandemic.

Generation(s) talk: Digital Storytelling in Vietnamese Berlin

On Saturday, September 4th, 2021, a launch event will take place situated in the Henri-Ford Building at Freie Universität Berlin. In cooperation with VLab Berlin, the subprojects A01 and A02 worked together on a digital-storytelling-format about Vietnamese Migration to Germany.

DGPPN congress 2019

From November 27th - November 30th the DGPPN (German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics) congress took place in Berlin.

Eric Hahn was part of the symposium "Resonanz und Verortung in der transkulturellen psychiatrischen Begleitung".

Conference of the German Anthropological Association at Constance

29 September until 2 October 2019 the conference titled "The End of Negotiations?" organized by the German Anthropological Association (GAA) took place in Constance.
Anita von Poser was in charge of a roundtable and Edda Willamowski hold a speech.

Biennial Meeting of the Society for Psychological Anthropology

The Biennial Meeting of the Society for Psychological Anthropology (SPA) took place in New Mexico, USA the 4th-6th of april 2019.
Edda Heyken, Jörg-Christian Lanca, Main-Huong Nguyen and Anita von Poser participated and they hold a panel together.

Conference at the Center of History of Emotions at MPI

The conference "Representation of Migration and Emotions of Exclusion" organized by the Center of History of Emotions at the "Max-Planck-Institut" took place at march 20th until 21st 2019 in Berlin.
Edda Willamowski and Jörg-Christian Lanca participated and gave a speech together.

Workshop at Max Planck Institute in Göttingen

October 23-24 2018, the workshop "Aging across Borders: Care, Generations, Citizenship", by the MPI research group "Ageing in a Time of Mobility" took place at Max Planck Instituet for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen. Anita von Poser took part in it and gave a talk.

Workshop Psychological Anthropology (GAA) at Freie Universität

On September 28 and 29, 2018, the workshop of the Working Group "Psychological Anthropology" of the German Anthropological Association (GAA) (german: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sozial und Kulturanthropologie - DGSKA) took place at the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology of Freie Universität Berlin.
Edda Heyken also gave a lecture during the workshop.

Conference "Affective Arrangements in Mental Health Care Settings", organized by project A02

On September 24-26 the conference "Affective Arrangements in Mental Health Care Settings" took place at Freie Universität Berlin. The symposium was organized by project directors Anita von Poser, Eric Hahn and Thi Minh Tam Ta in cooperation with Jan Slaby (project B05). The team of project A02 also gave talks and moderated discussions.

Lectures at the EASA

The 15th Conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) took place from August 14-17, 2018 in Stockholm at the University of Stockholm. Anita von Poser was invited as guest speaker in the roundtable discussion "Moving psychological anthropologies" of the European Network of Psychological Anthropology (ENPA) to discuss the current debates with her perspective.
As part of the panel "Silences of/and Mobility: towards an anthropology of the unspoken and unspeakable", Edda Heyken also gave a lecture with the title "Silence as affective action: Cases from a Vietnamese psychiatric outpatient clinic".


7th symposium of the network Vietnamesisches Berlin (vietnamese Berlin)

On November 15th 2017, the project participated in the transfer of knowledge of the 7th symposium of "Vietnamesisches Berlin" with the title "„Angekommen? Chancen und Herausforderungen für Integration und Partizipation der Zugewanderten aus Vietnam und ihrer Familien" (eng.:"chances and challenges concerning the integration and paticipation of migrants from Vietnam and their families") which was moderated by Main Huong Nguyen.


Poster presentation at the World Congress of Psychiatry (WPA)

Main Huong Nguyen participated in the World Congress of Psychiatry that was held in Berlin October 8-12. She presented a poster with the title „A cross-cultural comparison of self-reported burdens between Vietnamese and German psychiatric out-patients- findings from an interdisciplinary mixed-method study“.

DGV conference at Freie Universität Berlin

From October 4 to 7, 2017, the conference "Zugehörigkeiten – Affektive, moralische und politische Praxen in einer vernetzten Welt" of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Völkerkunde (DGV) took place at Freie Universität Berlin. Anita von Poser was also a member of the conference team. On behalf of the Executive Board and Advisory Board of the Society, she presented a panel.
Furthermore, Jörg-Christian Lanca gave a lecture.

Lecture at Museum Friedland

On September 13 and 14, 2017 the symposium "Friedländer Gespräche: Moving. Von den Gefühlen der Migration" (eng.: Moving. About the emotions of migration.") took place at the Museum Friedland. Anita von Poser of project A02 gave a talk.

Workshop at Hoa Sen University, Vietnam

On September 12th 2017, Thi Minh Tam Ta and Eric Hahn organized a half-day workshop at the Hoa Sen University in Saigon, Vietnam.

Lecture at the Long Night of Sciences in Berlin

On June 14th, 2017 project A02 presented results of their current research at the Long Night of Sciences at Charité, Campus Benjamin Franklin.

Workshop at the University of Münster

Edda Heyken participated in the workshop "Social Anthropology of 'Well-Being' - Prekäres Leben: Krieg, Flucht und Migration" of the project group Medical Anthropology (DGSKA) which took place May 5th and 6th 2017 at the University of Münster. She also gave a talk within the workshop.

Poster presentation at the European Congress of Psychiatry (EPA)

From April 1-4 2017, Main Huong Nguyen participated in the 25th European Congress of Psychiatry (EPA) in Florence. She presented a poster with the title "Acculturation Strategies and Severity of Depression Among Vietnamese Migrants".

Workshop at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research

On Feburary 3rd and 4th 2017 Anita von Poser took part in the workshop "Placing Migration in Perspective: Studien und Denkfiguren zur Analyse verflochtener Gesellschaften" at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (german: Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Forschung, ZiF) at the University of Bielefeld and gave a talk.

On December 15, 2016 project A02 organized a workshop for an international group of postgraduates from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Within lectures and discussions the participants talked about different approaches, comparisons and differences concerning the mental health care with a special focus on cultural sensitivity.

Together with her SFB colleagues Birgitt Röttger-Rössler and Omar Kasmani, Anita von Poser gave lectures followed by a discussion as part of the series of events "Emotionen und ihre Effekte. Affektive Dynamiken von Flucht und Migration".

Poster Presentation at DGPPN congress 2016

On November 25, 2016, Main Huong Nguyen took part in the poster presentation at the congress of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Psychosomatik (DGPPN) in Berlin and presented relevant research results under the title "Akkulturation und depressiver Schweregrad bei vietnamesischen Migranten der ersten Generation" (eng.: "Acculturation and Depressive Severity among First Generation Vietnamese Migrants").

At the Long Night of Sciences in Berlin on June 11th at Charité Berlin, project A02 presented their recent work with a poster.
Thi Minh Tam Ta gave a lecture with the title "Transcultural Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Psychiatric-psychotherapeutic care for vietnamese migrants".

On March 22nd 2016 Anita von Poser gave a lecture at the Niedersächsisches Landesmuseum Hannover as part of the series of events "Migration: Menschen in Bewegung - Gestern und Heute", organized by Ethnologische Gesellschaft Hannover.
