Award: Platform Affect and Colonialism wins award in the Ideas Competition International Research Marketing

The network connects scientists, activists, artists, and media professionals. Organizationally, it is part of the CRC Affective Societies and expands the expertise in transdisciplinary affect and emotion research in Berlin.
The Affect and Colonialism platform is carried out in partnership with scientists at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt Universität Berlin. It is supported and coordinated by the anthropologist Dr. Jonas Bens, the philosopher Dr. Fabian Bernhardt, the ethnologist Dr. Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo, communication scientist Dr. Débora Medeiros and the art historian Dr. Verena Straub. Now the concept has won a prize totaling 148,600 euros.
The awarded concept of the Affect and Colonialism platform provides a multimedia and multilingual platform on which the close interweaving of affect and colonialism is illuminated and discussed through podcasts, videos, and digital exhibitions. A fellowship program is also attached to the project, which enables researchers, especially from the Global South, to present their work on the platform.
The Ideas Competition International Research Marketing is part of the "Research in Germany" initiative. The initiative presents Germany as a research and innovation location worldwide and creates a forum for international exchange and cooperation.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research initiated "Research in Germany" in 2006 and is providing funds for the current project phase. The initiative is being implemented jointly by the German Academic Exchange Service, the DFG, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, and the DLR Project Management Agency.
