What is love? (Baby don’t hurt me) – Love as a contested emotion in queer*feminist literature, art, and activism
Two-day international and interdisciplinary workshop on the controversial nature of love in queer*feminist contexts with a public evening event
In queer*feminism, love has always been seen as both a patriarchal curse and an emancipatory blessing. At the same time, we are experiencing how emotions are gaining importance in society as a whole. So how do queer*feminist activist and literary-artistic positions currently negotiate love? When and where does love become a matter of contestation and what alternative practices of love do queer*feminist groups, couples and political contexts develop? The workshop “What is love” explores the potential for conflict, the dynamics of negotiation and the aesthetics of love with thirteen contributions from social science and humanities research.
The public evening event "Words don’t come easy. A conversation about love in queer*feminist literature and life" with Omar Kasmani, Andrea Newerla, Phanuel Antwi, and Saskia Vogel” at Mittelpunktbibliothek will further explore the relationship between language and love.
The event will be held in English.
