Vom 13. bis zum 15. Juni 2018 fand in Tallinn die fünfte Jahrestagung der European Philosophical Society for the Study of Emotions (EPSSE) statt. Der SFB 1171 war hier mit einem eigenen Panel vertreten: "Dynamics of Sociality in a World in Motion: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Affective Societies". Im Rahmen dieses Panels hielt u.a. auch Jonas Bens einen Vortrag.

Im seinem Vortrag unter dem Titel "On the Courtroom Atmosphere: Legal Objectivity as an Affective Register" argumentierte Jonas Bens, dass in Gerichtsverfahren Affekt und Emotion mobilisiert werden, um Objektivität zu produzieren.
